MARK IV CAPITAL ADVANCES FORWARD-LOOKING LEADERSHIP PLAN; APPOINTS EVAN SLAVIK AS CEO 

Newport Beach, Calif. (March 9, 2023)Mark IV Capital, a private investment firm with a nearly 50-year history of commercial real estate investment, development and venture capital, has announced the appointment of long-time President Evan Slavik as its new CEO, following the retirement of Paul Cate.

The company is currently developing visionary projects such as the 4,300-acre “Victory Logistics District in the Reno region of Nevada, and the vibrant 65-acre mixed-use project known as “The District in Round Rock, Texas.

“Our approach is long-term in everything we do, which allows for a vision that spans generations,” says Slavik. “Our retiring CEO, Paul Cate, led the company for 24 years, achieved tremendous growth in that timeframe, and has effectively positioned the firm for numerous exciting growth opportunities.  The success of this next chapter in our company’s history could not have been possible without the operational and financial foundation that he has built.  We all wish Paul the best in his retirement and thank him for his years of dedicated service to the company. ”

During Mr. Cate’s tenure, Mark IV Capital grew to seven markets across five states, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. Under his leadership, the firm has continued to build its reputation of delivering best-in-class projects that stand the test of time, based on its uniquely long-term approach to underwriting and project planning.  Likewise, Mark IV Capital has always been focused on making a meaningful impact on the communities that it serves.

Slavik explains, “In Reno, for example, our industrial development at Victory Logistics District is located in an Opportunity Zone, and is bringing thousands of new jobs to the region. We are actively working with educational partners in the area to bolster training opportunities that will help connect employees to the jobs they are seeking. This aligns really well with our focus on making a social impact in each of our regions.”

Environmental sustainability is also a hallmark of the Mark IV strategy. The firm’s headquarters building in Newport Beach, California was the first office building to achieve LEED Platinum status in Orange County.  All of its new projects prioritize sustainability and are often built to achieve LEED and/or WELL Building standards.

In addition to its commercial real estate and investment focus, Mr. Slavik will also oversee Mark IV Capital’s venture capital division, which manages a diversified portfolio with a direct investment focus on technologies that measurably increase productivity for business or government customers and have unique IP. The firm generally invests in Series A or B rounds, with historical investment focus on deep tech, material science, robotics, communication services, and SaaS, as well as seed funds, healthcare, and consumer goods.

“We see an opportunity ahead for exponential growth, in both our commercial real estate and our venture capital departments,” states Slavik, “As we look ahead, we will continue to capitalize on our unusually long-term investment horizon and align ourselves with partners and investors that have similar goals.  We expect to develop new projects in many of our regions over the next few years and create additional strategic partnerships throughout the organization.”
