James D Slavik
Chairman, Director
James D. Slavik has served as a Director of Mark IV Capital, Inc. since its founding in 1974 and as Chairman since 2003. Prior to his current role on the board, Mr. Slavik held the position of Mark IV Capital's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1990 - 2003. He also currently serves as Manager of Emerald Bay Ventures II, LLC as well as a Director of UCI Beall Applied Innovation. He served as a Director of W.W. Grainger, Inc., from 1987 to 2020 and as a Director for the Hoag Hospital Foundation from 2011 to 2018.

 

Susan Slavik Williams
Director
Susan S. Williams has served as a Director of Mark IV Capital Inc. since 1989. Ms. Williams is an investor, entrepreneur and animal advocate. Susan is the  President of Four Palms Ventures LLC, where she leads a team to invest in novel technologies and businesses; and of The Donald Slavik Family Foundation, an organization conserving wildlife and wild places throughout the world. Susan additionally serves on the Boards of Directors of  W.W. Grainger, a North American supplier of maintenance, repair and operations products,  and iSelect Fund, a novel venture capital fund investing in regenerative agriculture and the future of health.  Susan brings to the board expertise in the areas of strategic planning, finance, corporate governance and executive compensation.  Susan also served on the Board of the St. Louis Zoo for 12 years and continues to help with strategic planning. Ms. Williams has a BA in Sociology from UCLA, an MBA with an emphasis in finance at the Olin School, Washington University in St. Louis, and holds certificates from Wharton, University of Pennsylvania and the Kellogg School, Northwestern University.

 

Thomas W. Turney
Director
Director Thomas W. Turney has served on the Mark IV Capital, Inc. Board of Directors since 1994. Mr. Turney is the Managing Principal of NewCap Partners, an investment banking firm founded in 1987. Mr. Turney is known for his expertise in mergers and acquisitions and financings primarily for companies in the technology sector. Prior to founding NewCap Partners, Mr. Turney directed all equity financing activities for Hambrecht & Quist in Southern California, Mr. Turney also currently serves on the board of The Olson Company, The Gill Corporation, King's Seafood Company, Flowline, Inc., Corumat, Inc. and the Aquarium of the Pacific and its Marine Conservation Research Institute.  Mr. Turney has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UCLA and a Master of Arts in Economics and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

 

Adam Markman
Director
Adam Markman has served on the Mark IV Capital, Inc. Board of Directors since 2011.  Adam is the President of J. Jeffers & Co., a mission-driven real estate development and investment firm with a proven track record of success across multiple asset classes, capital structures, and construction types.  From 2014-2021, Adam served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Equity Commonwealth, a publicly traded office REIT chaired by Sam Zell.  Prior to his work with Equity Commonwealth, Adam served as Managing Director of Green Street Advisors where he ran their consulting and advisory practice and played a key role in the firm’s REIT investment arm.  In his 20 years at Green Street, Adam was involved in over $50 billion of transactions managing a partnership with Eastdil Secured, and he at one time led the firm’s retail and lodging research efforts.  He was a member of Green Street’s Board of Directors, and currently is the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Modiv, a NYSE traded NNN REIT.  Adam also sits on TwinRock Partners’ Advisory Council and is a member of Nareit and ULI.  Adam has an MBA in Finance and Real Estate from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economies of Industrial Societies from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Evan Slavik
Director
Evan Slavik has served as a Director of Mark IV Capital, Inc. since 2021. Mr. Slavik’s background includes commercial construction management with Snyder Langston, where he built projects of various product types throughout Southern California. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, as well as a Master of Real Estate Development and a Master of Business Administration. Mr. Slavik serves as President of Mark IV Capital, Inc. and in that role, he oversees the company’s operations and strategic initiatives. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for Harbor Day School.

 

Alexander S. Bhathal
Director
Alexander S. Bhathal has served as a director of Mark IV Capital since May 2021. He is executive chairman of Revitate, building upon the legacy and success of the RAJ Capital family investment office he founded in 2006. Since 2013, Alex has also been co-owner and executive director of Sacramento Basketball Holdings, which owns the Sacramento Kings franchise of the National Basketball Association and affiliated real estate properties. In 2018 he founded RevOZ Capital, a leader and early adopter in Opportunity Zone real estate investing; serves as operating partner of Rx3 Growth Partners, a consumer growth fund; and as director for Compass Diversified (NYSE: CODI) and Aspyr Holdings. Alex is a member of YPO and earned his B.A. from the University of California Los Angeles, M.B.A from the University of Southern California and is completing the Presidents Program in Leadership at Harvard Business School.

 

Scott Connella
Director
Scott Connella retired in 2023 as the Head of Union Bank’s Commercial Banking Group for the U.S. He oversaw 10 regional offices on the West Coast that served customers nationwide. Scott joined Union Bank in 1987 and held various leadership positions before being appointed Market President for Southern California in 2004. At Union Bank, Scott served on the Foundation Board and UB Equities Board. He is a member of the Executive Committee for the Dean’s Leadership Society and was a member of the UCI CEO Roundtable for several years. He was formerly the Vice Chairman and member of the Executive Committee of the Ocean Institute for many years.  He was also formerly the Vice Chairman and on the executive committee for the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles. Scott holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of California at Irvine.  He earned the Certified Financial Planner designation from the College for Financial Planning in 1986.
